POVZETEK


Astma je kronična vnetna bolezen dihal, ki jo vsaj delno sprožajo levkotrieni in drugi vnetni posredniki.

 

Eksperimentalne študije so pokazale, da je lipidni izvleček novozelandske zelenouste školjke Perna Canaliculus učinkovit pri zaviranju poti 5-lipoksigenaze in ciklooksigenaze, ki sta odgovorni za tvorbo ekozanoidov, vključno z levkotrieni in prostaglandini.

 

Cilj tega, dvojno slepega, randomiziranega, s placebom nadzorovanega kliničnega preskušanja je bil oceniti učinek na simptome, največji pretok zraka med izdihom (PEF) in vodikov peroksid (H2O2) v kondenzatu izdihanega zraka kot označevalec vnetja dihal pri bolnikih z atopično astmo, ki se še niso zdravili s steroidi.

 

 

46 bolnikov z atopično astmo je prejemalo 2 kapsuli lipidnega izvlečka Lyprinol ali placebo 2-krat na dan osem tednov.

 

Ena kapsula Lyprinola je vsebovala 50 mg polinenasičenih maščobnih kislin omega 3 in 100 mg olivnega olja, medtem ko je placebo vseboval samo 150 mg olivnega olja.

 

V skupini, ki je prejemala Lprinol so v primerjavi s placebom opazili pomembno zmanjšanje dnevnega sopenja, koncentracije izdihanega H2O2 in povečanje jutranjega PEF. Pomembnih neželenih učinkov ni bilo.

 

Avtorji so iz rezultatov sklepali, da ima lahko lipidni izvleček novozelandske zelenouste školjke nekaj koristnih učinkov pri bolnikih z atopično astmo.
